Happy new year! Yeah, it’s February lol. Nothing gets me back to writing more than some drama / rant.
It’s mini, since it’s kinda “resolved”? I don’t remember being involved in any e-dramas of late, but I’m having a rather interesting discussion with a person on the JCF site’s tagboard.
May I state right here, that despite the fact the site is still around, and my yearly random posts which can venture into “fangirl” territory, I’m under no illusion that he’ll be back at the top 10? Actually, I have no illusions about his results at all. This is what happens when you’ve seen a few of his first round losses, and he played rather terribly. But you start to wonder, how many times will he be travelling here, for this?
I read this article a couple of weeks ago and found what Carlos [Moya] said is quite true, sad but touching…..
Q. What is the motivation? You’re rich, you have got many tournaments under your belt.
A. I love playing this game - the crowd, the people involved in the match, and you know still competing with such good guys. That’s what keeps me motivated and still having the feeling that I can beat these guys, you know. Also I want to reach my last goal which is to win 600 matches, so I think that’s my last goal. And, I am 20 matches away.
Q. Oh 20?
A. 20 wins away, which is not a couple of months. It’s going to take, I don’t know how long, but that will be my last goal. I’m not saying if I get there I will quit, I’m just saying that’s my last goal.
Q. Is it difficult, Carlos, to accept that your time at the top doesn’t last forever?
A. It depends on how you take it. It wasn’t tough for me to know that and to accept that. I know I’m playing differently than Roger is playing and Nadal is playing, but I still try to find all the motivations, and I’ve found them. And it’s just a question to accept them, to accept that you are never going to win a Slam again, you are not going to be the No. 1 player in the world again, not even the Top 10, but still you can find all the motivation, and that’s what I did.
